Division approves new well at Deep Creek

Petroleum News

The Alaska Department of Natural Resources' Division of Oil and Gas has approved a unit plan of operations amendment for the Deep Creek unit.

The Jan. 28 decision said Hilcorp Alaska applied to drill a new grassroots well from the Happy Valley B Pad, with associated project work including tie-in infrastructure -- gas flowlines, electrical instrumentation, a well cellar and a conductor. All activities will occur on existing gravel infrastructure.

Gas production will be from well HVB-18. As of Jan. 28, Hilcorp had not yet received a drilling permit for that well from the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission.

Activities approved by the division include:

*Installation of facility piping and electrical and instrumentation lines to tie the well into existing Deep Creek unit B Pad production infrastructure;

*Preparation for drilling;

*Drilling and well testing;

*Gas production from HVB-18.

Happy Valley B Pad is on Ninilchik Native Association lands within the Deep Creek unit. B Pad is some 11.7 acres and is situated along Oil Well Road some 5 miles inland from Ninilchik.
