Petroleum News
The Alaska Gasline Development Corp. has applied to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources for right-of-way leases on state land for both the mainline route for the Alaska LNG project and for the Point Thomson transmission line.
The Point Thomson line would transport natural gas some 63 miles west from the Point Thomson unit central pad to the project’s gas treatment plant near Deadhorse, with some 62 miles of the route on state-owned lands. The proposed pipeline would be 32 inches in diameter, have a maximum allowable operating pressure of 1,150 pounds per square inch and be elevated on vertical support members.
DNR said the mainline pipeline would transport natural gas from the gas treatment plant some 807 miles south to the project’s liquefaction facility in Nikiski. Related facilities include some 632 access roads, 153 potential material sites, 108 potential excess material disposal sites, 57 various work areas and camps, eight compressor stations, one heater station, 11 launchers/receivers and the mainline material offloading facility at Beluga.
The proposed mainline would be 42 inches in diameter, have a maximum allowable operating pressure of 2,075 psig and be buried for the majority of the route. The state ROW would encompass some 471 miles of the mainline route and would also include the GTP, the 1 mile 60-inch diameter Prudhoe Bay transmission line and the liquefaction facility’s marine facility.
The applications are available online at http://dog.dnr.alaska.gov/Newsroom.
