The North Slope Borough temperature averaged -2 degrees F in December, down from 5.4 F in November, up from a -4.1 F degree average in December 2023 and up by 10 degrees from a 1925-2000 mean of -12 F.

Production data come from the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission which reports production by field and well on a month delay basis.

Temperature data are from the county time series maintained by NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information, which has North Slope Borough temperatures beginning in 1925.

Southern Miluveach online

December saw continuous production begin from Southern Miluveach, operated by Mustang Holding LLC, Finnex. The field came online with a single producing well, North Tarn 1A, late in December, producing for just three days in the month, a total of 1,122 barrels, for an average of 36 bpd for the month.

The field, producing from the Mustang Pad, previously had production for 23 days in November 2019 under then-operator Brooks Range Petroleum.

Current production began at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 29, Harry Bockmeulen of Mustang Holding told Petroleum News Dec. 31, with first oil expected to begin flowing into the Alpine Pipeline on New Year's Eve.

In 2024 the company drilled and completed the M-03A and M-01B wells and prepared the North Tarn 1A for return to production. The field produces from the Kuparuk River formation.
