The January temperature in the North Slope Borough averaged -0.8 degrees F, up 12.5 degrees from the 1925-2000 mean temperature for the month of -13.3 degrees f.

Production data come from the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission which reports production by field and well on a month delay basis.

Temperature data are from the county time series maintained by NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information, which has North Slope Borough temperatures beginning in 1925.

Month-over-month increases

The largest month-over-month increase was from ConocoPhillips Alaska's Greater Mooses Tooth unit in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, where January production averaged 19,647 bpd, up 5,737 bpd, 41.24%, from a December average of 13,910 bpd and up 23.4% from a January 2024 average of 15,922 bpd. The increase is attributable to a new well, the MT7-83, which came online in November but only had its first full month of production in January, accounting for 39.42% of the field's production in that month, 7,745 bpd. MT7-83 is in the Rendezvous pool, one of two in the field, and the pool which accounts for the majority of Greater Mooses Tooth production, 93.38% in January.
