Oil Patch bits: Four board members elected at Doyon annual meeting

Doyon Ltd. said March 15 that at its annual meeting of shareholders four individuals were elected to Doyon’s 13-member board of directors. Elected with three-year terms ending in 2022 were Betty Huntington, Jerry Isaac, Sonta Hamilton-Roach and Miranda Wright.
The newly elected and re-elected board members will join existing board members Walter “Wally” Carlo, Shirley Cleaver, Jennifer Fate, Erica L. Frankson, Georgianna Lincoln, Esther McCarty, Christopher Simon, Pollock “PJ” Simon, Jr., and Orie G. Williams.
The main items of business were the election of the four board members, reports on the company’s FY2018 financial performance, corporate initiatives, goals and shareholder of the year awards.
Emil Notti delivered the keynote address to the shareholders. Notti spoke of the history of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act, the strength and stamina of Alaska Native people, the work that still needs to be completed, and the future of Doyon and its shareholders. Notti was the first president of the Alaska Federation of Natives and was a force behind the land claims movement and negotiations that culminated in the ANCSA.
Shareholder of the year award recipients are Doyon Citizen of the Year, Roy Nictune of Alatna and Bettles, Richard Frank Military Service awardee, Tanna Carter of Minto, and Chief Andrew Isaac Leadership awardee, Sheree Titus of Northway.
