Arctic Directory: Coffman Engineers' Eliot Jordan leads fire protection group

Coffman Engineers Inc. said July 15 that it is pleased to announce the promotion of Eliot Jordan to discipline manager of the fire protection engineering team. Jordan brings 24 years of professional engineering experience, including 17 years in Alaska. He leads Coffman's fire protection group and performs work on fire suppression and fire alarm and life safety code analysis projects for a variety of facilities. Jordan has served as the qualified fire protection engineer for a range of projects, particularly within the oil and gas and federal industries. He has also provided lead engineering for projects involving major equipment replacement and system reconfiguration for major industrial systems. His 17 years of mechanical engineering experience designing commercial and institutional HVAC systems laid the foundation for his shift into fire protection engineering. He earned his Master of Science in fire protection engineering from California Polytechnic State University. With a depth of experience throughout Alaska, Washington and Oregon, Jordan's portfolio includes a vast array of market sectors -- from higher education academic facilities, science and laboratory facilities, commercial buildings, parking garages, industrial facilities, restaurants, to federal buildings. He also has a strong background in sustainable design and LEED projects and has designed new LEED construction platinum and gold-certified projects as well as a LEED commercial interiors platinum-certified project. "Eliot has an extremely diverse resume of projects spanning Alaska's vast geography and industries. He has developed into an excellent leader and mentor for our Anchorage office and fire protection team," said General Manager Tom Looney.

Coffman announces new shareholders and board director

Coffman Engineers Inc., a national multidiscipline engineering firm, announced June 25 a new board directors, board re-elections and two new Anchorage-based shareholders following the annual shareholders' meeting. Coffman elected Anchorage-based principal, Ben Momblow, PE, as a new board director. Senior VP, Jeff Gries, PE, was re-elected to the board. "Ben brings a thoughtful business perspective from his experience in operations roles in Honolulu and Anchorage and serves on various corporate committees. His broad view of Coffman, commitment to our culture, and inquisitive nature will make Coffman a better place. We are looking forward to his influence on the board," said Dave Ruff, PE, Coffman's CEO and chair. Coffman's annual meeting also included the election of new shareholders. New Anchorage-based principals include Skip Bourgeois and Justin Freeman, PE. "Welcoming new principal ownership is critical for the growth and health of Coffman to support our people, teams, and clients. This year's group of incredible leaders represent various engineering disciplines, strategic markets, and critical business roles," said Chad Heimbigner, PE, Coffman's chief operating officer. "Coffman's future is in good hands." Skip Bourgeois is the vice president of marketing and is responsible for the firm's overall marketing team. His role involves supporting and empowering Coffman's marketing professionals to achieve the firm's strategic and positioning goals. "Skip leads our marketing efforts with incredible vision, strategic thinking, and care for his marketing team. His thoughtful leadership has allowed our marketing team to grow and thrive. He has been instrumental in raising the quality of our marketing across the company," said Heimbigner. Justin Freeman, PE, is the vice president of carbon capture, utilization, and storage, and hydrogen and leads the companywide initiative. He spearheads the market strategy, development of internal capabilities, and management of CCUS and hydrogen projects nationwide. "Justin has distinct experience in the CCUS and hydrogen space and is elevating Coffman's ability to serve and guide our clients with their energy needs. His leadership in this area is invaluable as we navigate a changing energy landscape," said Heimbigner.
