Effective July 21, Jamie Benson, a lifelong Alaskan and a results driven leader with a proven track record of success in the transportation industry, was named executive director of the Alaska Trucking Association.

With a background of leadership in logistics, strategic planning and business management, Benson brings a fresh perspective and innovative ideas to the role of executive director, the ATA said in a press release.

Her strong leadership skills and collaborative approach make her a natural fit for this position, where she will be responsible for guiding the association towards greater success and growth. Her dedication to excellence and commitment to fostering positive relationships within the industry will undoubtedly lead to increased opportunities and positive outcomes for all members, ATA said.

Benson has been associated with the Alaska Trucking Association for more than a decade and served as president from 2019-20. She was actively involved with the Safety Management Council, Truck Driving Championship committee and the Annual Board meeting committee.

Benson's 30 years of experience at FedEx, managing in Alaska and Hawaii, have given her a keen understanding of the challenges facing the trucking industry outside of the continental U.S. She is well equipped to drive the association forward and make a lasting impact on the industry as a whole. Her drive for excellence coupled with strategic thinking and vision, make her a valuable asset to the Alaska Trucking Association and the trucking industry as a whole, ATA said.

Benson lives in Anchorage with her husband Russell and has two children, Quinn and Devlin.

Hasquet runs for ANC Chamber board

Julie Hasquet, senior manager of corporate communications at Chugach Electric Association, is running for the board of directors for the Anchorage Chamber.

Hasquet has more than 30 years of experience in media, politics, oil and gas, and the electric utility industry

In a post on LinkedIn Hasquet said she brings valuable experience and perspective to the business community.

"I served on the Chamber Board previously and would love to be able to do it again," she said.

"For those who work for organizations who are Chamber members, your company gets to vote one time for the slate (up to five candidates). Thank you for considering this. I'd appreciate your vote," Hasquet finished.
