Division of O&G posts latest North Slope oil & gas activity map

Alaska's Division of Oil and Gas released its latest North Slope Oil and Gas Activity Map on Aug. 22 on its website.

The accuracy of this map is subject to pending decisions currently on appeal and other administrative actions.

The activities include the U.S. Geological Survey assessment of the North Chukchi basin estimating 1.8 billion barrels of oil and 119.9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in undiscovered, technically recoverable accumulations.

Other activities include Savant Alaska having drilled the B1-33 delineation well into Killian sands. Approved development plans include drilling three more Badami and Killian sand wells.

ConocoPhillips Alaska is very busy on the North Slope. It is constructing development infrastructure for Willow. Over 1,200 workers have been mobilized to build 7 miles of gravel roads and 30 acres of pads for planned facilities.

Over $7 billion will be invested in Willow by 2029, when first oil production is expected.

ConocoPhillips Alaska has also applied to form the Torok and Coyote participating areas in the Kuparuk River Unit. Development drilling and infrastructure construction continues in Torok and Coyote from the 3S and new 3T pads.

Accumulate Energy Alaska is analyzing samples and data from the Hickory 1 well. They plan to develop off the Franklin Bluffs pad and build a modular processing facility.

Bill Armstrong's Lagniappe Alaska completed the first of a two-year, six-well exploration project. They drilled the King Street 1 well to a total depth of 10,241 feet. Hydrocarbons were found in two separate zones at depths of 8,130 feet and 9,850 feet in late Cretaceous clastic rock. Exploration drilling efforts will continue next winter season.

Santos is also part of the activity map, Santos continued drilling development wells as part of the Pikka Phase 1 project targeting the Nanushuk reservoir with expected production starting in early 2026.

Mustang Holding plans to re-enter and complete two wells on the Mustang pad in third quarter 2024. They are targeting resumed production by late 2024.

Hilcorp's Harvest Alaska LNG is planning to truck liquefied natural gas to the Interior Gas Utility in Fairbanks later this year.
